The eighty-meter-high tower of the Church of St. James in Kutná Hora dominates the UNESCO heritage zone. It seems to bow to the Gothic pride, the Church of St. Barbara. And it really does lean! However, it leans into the valley of the River Vrchlice, due to the instability of its foundations from the first half of the 14th century. That is why the oldest of the Kutná Hora churches has received such extensive care in recent years. What methods do craftsmen use to connect with their predecessors? And what surprises awaited them during the four-year restoration? Will they succeed in preserving the builders' legacy for future generations?
